CastWarm is a heated sleeve for your rod grip, powered by a rechargeable battery pod that swaps in for the butt cap. Built for ice fishing and cold-weather days on the water.
Cold hands, frozen guides, missed bites
Late fall, early spring and ice season are when a lot of the best fishing happens, and when your hands go numb. Stiff fingers make knots and light bites hard to feel, and thick gloves take away the feel you need to detect a strike. Line picks up water, guides ice over, and pocket hand warmers don't help the hand that's actually holding the rod.
CastWarm puts the heat where your hand is: on the grip.

Wrap the sleeve on your grip
A size-adjustable heated sleeve wraps around the handle of a rod you already own and closes with hook-and-loop. Thin heating elements warm the area under your hand.
Swap in the battery pod
The rechargeable pod replaces the rod's butt cap. Its weight sits behind your hand as a counterweight.
Press for heat
One button cycles through heat levels. When the day's done, recharge the pod over USB-C.

Building the first prototype
CastWarm is in the pre-prototype stage. Next we build and test working units in real Minnesota cold: how warm the grip gets, how long the battery lasts, and how the rod feels when casting. After testing, we plan to launch a crowdfunding campaign. Pricing and ship dates are in development.

Will it fit my rod?
It's designed to adjust to a range of grip sizes on casting, spinning and ice rods. The exact size range is in development and will be confirmed in prototype testing.
Do I have to buy a new rod?
No. CastWarm is designed as an add-on for rods you already own.
How long does the battery last?
In development. We'll measure runtime in real cold and publish actual numbers. It will depend on heat level and conditions.
Is it waterproof?
Water resistance is a design goal. A rating is in development and we'll only publish it once it's verified.
When can I buy one?
